At nine months pregnant, with only days before her due date, the last thing Cassie Brandt thought she would be doing was wading through waist deep water to escape her home flooded home. Today, Cassie and her daughter, Alex, are visiting the Red Cross service center in Chehalis, Wash. to begin the recovery process before she adds another member to their family. Alex, missing her toys, hugs a Mickey Mouse doll given to her by a Red Cross volunteer – a small comfort to a little girl who has lost so much. On her way out of the service center, the soon-to-be big sister picked up another toy for her new little brother. Thanks to a donation from The Walt Disney Company, children, like Alex, are receiving the emotional support and comfort items they need to process last week’s tragic flood.
